The Yamaha 82ZS has a remarkably expressive sound with a solid core that comes as a result of the hand hammered bell. An improved low B - low C# connection ensures that the low C# closes securely, giving players real confidence when playing in the lower register. The VI neck helps to create a more expressive saxophone, made possible by the more open feel that this neck gives along with a wider dynamic range. Made of a special lighter weight brass alloy.

The brass body is left unlacquered and plated with beautiful bright silver plating. The lack of lacquer does mean occasional cleaning with a silver cloth is required in order to maintain the finish. However, the added layer of resonant precious metal gives more projection and a wonderful extra dimension to the sound.

YAS-875GP gold plated alto saxophone in near mint condition and a fresh overhaul. This is a one owner saxophone which was originally selected between three gold plated Custom EX saxophones. The owner is a top Yamaha Performing Artist who took great care of the horn.

The overhaul was performed by Shelly Tanabe, who fitted the sax with Pisoni Pro pads. There are 4-5 original Yamaha pads that were deemed perfect at the time of the overhaul so weren't changed (side Bb, C, low Bb and low B). She's the best in the business, and the horn plays arguably better than new with her work.

The Custom EX is the result of decades of painstaking research and trials involving some of the world's greatest saxophonists. The Yamaha YAS-875EX Custom Series Alto Saxophone's depth, smoothness, and flexibility of sound is simply incredible; creating a wide dynamic range, stunning projection, and an authoritative tone with a defined tonal core. Physically, the size and shape of the key buttons have been changed for a better feel. The new handmade Custom G1 neck enhances tonal resonance and gives a quicker, more comfortable response. A two-point bell brace and no center-bow reinforcement plate creates better playing efficiency. In other words the saxophone will sound great with less effort.

For an’ all rounder’ the Yamaha YAS62 is extremely hard to beat. Very much designed as a blank canvas, this horn is at home in pretty much any context from rock to classical and responds well right across the board. Anyone who’s finding themselves held back by their student instrument, or a more advanced player looking for a great sax on a budget should definitely consider a 62 as their next step forward.
